Classwork

All lesson content is of the highest quality, set and taught by our expert teachers based on
the chosen curriculum and relevant grade. Every lesson is recorded and available to
rewatch, any time.

Accessing classes and lessons

Getting into live classes and watching lesson recordings is really easy. All it takes is a single sign in to our learning platform, and clicking the link in your calendar. Now you’re in class and/or watching lessons, and have all classwork and learning content at your fingertips.

How to access learning content

You’ll find all your learning content on our learning platform and you can access it any time. Simply sign in with your details, go to your subjects and select the learning content for that day’s lessons.

Participating in
classes

Showing up for every class or lesson recording is one thing, but actively engaging in discussions is where the magic happens. Our expert teachers encourage participation in virtual classes and when watching recordings by reaching out to teachers and asking questions.

Learning in a safe environment

Whether in a virtual class or watching a live lesson recording, know that your child is always learning in a safe, supervised space.

Did you know?

If your child misses class, loses focus during a lesson or wants to revise lesson content in preparation for examinations, they have access to lesson recordings which they can watch any time.

Lesson schedule example

Learning content is interactive and multimodal - with text, video and virtual content - making learning self-paced and fun. Homework is usually in the form of a quiz at the end of some modules. All lesson content that has been completed can be viewed via the Parent App.

Homework

Learning content is interactive and engaging, making learning self-paced and memorable. If there is any homework, it will be a quiz or task within the lesson content for that class and will be completed online on the learning platform. All lesson content that has been completed can also be viewed via the Parent app.

Assessments and examinations

All learners from Grade 4 to matric write assessments and examinations. These are set and marked by our teachers according to the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS). Matric final examinations are written with an accredited examination board (SACAI or IEB).

How assessments work

Assessment dates can be viewed in your calendar and are written or recorded on video (practicals), and submitted via our learning platform. There are no additional costs – assessments are included in the school fees.

Types of
assessments

There are specific tasks, projects, assignments, and orals that need to be completed and submitted as online responses, pdf uploads or videos.

Then there are assessments that happen at a certain date and time. These are invigilated online and need to be completed and submitted via a timed quiz on our learning platform.

Assessment feedback

You’ll get feedback from your teachers on how your child has done, via our learning platform. You’ll also get access to data that lets you track your child’s performance on their learning journey.

Good to know

Our smart invigilation software is linked to our learning platform and ensures academic integrity during assessments and examinations.

How examinations work

Examinations work like our assessments. Dates can be viewed in your calendar, and when it’s time to write an examination, you follow the link and complete it via our learning platform. It’s that simple! And, if anything goes wrong, support is just a click away.

Practical examinations

When it comes to practicals, learners record themselves and upload their videos onto the learning platform. Your teacher will guide your child through the process, ensuring they can give practicals their best shot!

Matric final examinations

Matric finals are a little different. Learners in Grade 12 write their examinations with either SACAI or the IEB, in-person and at an external venue closest to where they stay. A once-off fee needs to be paid to the relevant examining body. E.g. for SACAI Grade 12, this is R13500 - R14,500 (for 7 subjects, including examination venue fees).

Good to know

Grade 12 SACAI and IEB learners matriculate with a National Senior Certificate issued by Umalusi Council if they meet all requirements.

Project-based learning and collaboration

Learning online and in the comfort from home doesn’t mean you have to learn in isolation and be disconnected from teachers and peers. We encourage and facilitate interaction and collaboration between learners during the school day and after class.

Class interaction

Worried about your child not interacting with other learners? Don’t be. Interaction happens on so many levels – whether it’s engaging with learners in class or collaborating on tasks and on project-based work.

Peer-to-peer collaboration

Your child will get to learn and collaborate with their peers on exciting projects, with group tasks and in workshops, ensuring they get regular interaction and helping them build their communication, co-creation and leadership skills.

Social connect classes

Our social connect classes bring learners in the same grade together in a virtual class to interact, explore topical discussions and play group games. These classes happen at least once a week, for all school formats, and are hosted by a teacher. It’s a great way for recorded format leaners to get some face time!
