Assessments and examinations
All learners from Grade 4 to matric write assessments and examinations. These are set and marked by our teachers according to the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS). Matric final examinations are written with an accredited examination board (SACAI or IEB).
How assessments work
Assessment dates can be viewed in your calendar and are written or recorded on video (practicals), and submitted via our learning platform. There are no additional costs – assessments are included in the school fees.
Types of
assessments
There are specific tasks, projects, assignments, and orals that need to be completed and submitted as online responses, pdf uploads or videos.
Then there are assessments that happen at a certain date and time. These are invigilated and need to be completed and submitted via a timed quiz on our learning platform.
Assessment feedback
You’ll get feedback from your teachers on how your child has done, via our learning platform. You’ll also get access to data that lets you track your child’s performance on their learning journey.
Good to know
Our smart invigilation software is linked to our learning platform and ensures academic integrity during assessments and examinations. How examinations work
Examinations work like our assessments. Dates can be viewed in your calendar, and when it’s time to write an examination, you follow the link and complete it via our learning platform. It’s that simple! And, if anything goes wrong, support is just a click away.
Practical examinations
When it comes to practicals, learners record themselves and upload their videos onto the learning platform. Your teacher will guide your child through the process, ensuring they can give practicals their best shot!
Matric final examinations
Matric finals are a little different. Learners in Grade 12 write their examinations with either SACAI or the IEB, in-person and at an external venue closest to where they stay. A once-off fee needs to be paid to the relevant examining body. E.g. for SACAI Grade 12, this is R13 500 - R16 000 (each learner’s invoice is customised and may differ due to subject selection and number of practical subjects).
Good to know
Grade 12 SACAI and IEB learners matriculate with a National Senior Certificate issued by the Umalusi Council, if they meet all requirements and successfully pass. Our matric results
With five cohorts of matrics – and counting – our learners have consistently achieved outstanding academic results, raising the bar on a national level.
